This month I received my second box from Makeup Box. They are a subscription bi-monthly beauty box in Guatemala. Suscription boxes are becoming more and more popular these days and for a good reason. They offer you a wide range of products for an unbeatable price. Yes, some boxes mostly include samples but then you are not paying much for them. With other boxes you get full size product but you do have to pay a bit more. In this case, I am paying Q260 which is about $35. This is on the pricier side when compared to the prices on other boxes but I am quite happy with the products that they include so I’m a regular now.
Here is a picture of all the products that were included on this month’s box. Before I go into more detail, I want to say that I completely love them for two reasons:
- They are awesome! Yes, the products that they have included on both boxes were great, I love them all and the costumer service that they have is on point. They also do free deliveries so I get my pretty box sent directly to my house.
- They always include a product made from a local shop or local artisans and this gives us the opportunity to find more about local products and have the chance to support them.
The products that were included in this month’s box were:
- Youth to the People Maqui & Acai Prickly Pear Goji Superberry Hydrate and Glow Oil
- Midflower Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing Mask
- Noyah Cosmetics lipstick
- Milk Makeup mini Luminous Blur Stick
- Natural Oil Shea Butter
- As a bonus I was sent a pair of falsies!
Let’s talk about them. First up is Youth to the People oil. I’m not listing the whole name again, but you know which one I’m talking about. According to them it’s an ultra enriched, flash absorbing oil that “harnesses the nutrients of rare superberries to hydrate and deliver a velvety soft, healthy glow”. It is a dry oil and it does absorb quickly. It doesn’t leave my face feeling oily and I have even tried mixing it with my face and eye moisturizer to kick it up a notch. I have combination skin and some days I’m oilier, other days I’m dryer but no matter how my skin is that day, when I apply this oil, it really feels soft and yes, velvety. It gives a nice glow and my skin looks healthier. I will definitely be picking the full size version and I’m interested in trying out more products from this brand.
Next is the Midflower mask. I love sheet masks and the way my face feels after using one. I usually have my heavier skin care routine on Sunday night so after using this, I woke up to glowing and moisturized skin on Monday morning. I think I will always love getting masks in suscription boxes, so I hope they keep them coming.
My favorite product in this month’s box is the Noyah Cosmetics lipstick. Maybe because I’m a lipstick addict or maybe because this was such a pretty color, I don’t know! But I do know that I absolutely loved this lipstick. Mine came with the shade Deeply in Mauve and I did a little swatch for you on the picture above so you can see the color. STUNNING! Besides that, the packaging is made of 60% earth-friendly bamboo and – in my personal opinion – 100% of cuteness. I mean, look at the packaging! So pretty! It also has all natural ingredients and its free of sulfates, parabens and phtalates. It claims it is not tested on animals so we can all rejoice, right? Yes!
Next up is the Milk Makeup mini luminous blur stick. I took the picture with flash so you guys could see how the product looked on my skin. It’s not meant to be super pigmented since it is a skin primer with a luminous matte finish. Can you see a little glow on my hand? Trust me, it’s there. It is oil and silicone free and it has a golden pearl-infused formula that leaves skin glowing while the blurring microspheres absorb oil and mattify. It also claims it minimizes the appearance of pores and fine lines. Now I said already that I have combo skin but I also have huge pores. I’m not kidding, you can probably see them from where you are. Ok maybe not but you get the point – I have enlarged pores. The reason I say this is because I’m always on the hunt for something that will help me blur them, make them not so obvious and not make my foundation look cakey.
While I loved using the blur stick on my face alone, giving it a nice sheer glow, I did not like it when I put foundation on top. It definitely made it look cakey and I could see little white dots that were making my foundation come off, it was weird. It was like my foundation was coming off or it wasn’t sticking to my face, I’m not sure what happened. Now using it alone, I loved it. I even used it as a highlighter on top of my foundation and it looked pretty. So I may not be using it as a primer anymore but alone, I will definitely use it.
Last but not least, it’s the Natural Oil GT Shea Butter. Mine came in the scent Geranium. I am not a big fan of the scent but I don’t hate it. It’s very thick but at the same time it absorbs nicely onto the skin. I have very dry skin and lips – it’s just my face that gets wacky with the oil sometimes. However, I do feel that it helps with the dryness. The instructions said that it could be used on the body, face, lips, and even hair. I’m not putting it on my hair since that is oil central for me, but I’ve been wearing it underneath my lipstick – or even alone just to keep my lips moisturized and it works wonders! Like I said, the scent is not my favorite but I don’t hate it either so I decided to love this product because the way it feels on both my dry lips and hands.
That is it for this month’s edition of the Makeup Box. Have you tried it before? Do you like these type of reviews? Let me know in the comments down below if you would like to see more like this. And as a bonus, here is a picture of me wearing the beautiful Noyah Cosmetics lipstick – I’m serious when I say I loved it.
