How many times have we heard that we need to have a support system? It basically is circle of close friends and family who will be there for us in time of need. I think that at some point or another, we all have heard of this concept, however it is not always an easy thing to do.
In my case, it wasn’t even possible – at least in my mind it wasn’t – as I felt I was going to be judged by anyone and everyone. if I even said anything about the way I was feeling or any struggles I was having. That is what depression and anxiety do, or at least that’s what it did to me. It made sure that I felt as lonley as possible.
After some time, I have come to realize that this of course is not true and that I am not alone. In fact, I have never been alone. I have a support system and its made up mostly by my family but also some close friends. However, I know not all families are the same so you can really find support in people around you: close friends, neighbours, co-workers, church members, others going through the same situations as you, people you share hobbies with, etc. There are so many people around you that no matter what you may be thinking, no matter how lonley or secluded you may feel, you do have someone you can talk to and you have someone you can rely on to help and cheer on you.
Whenever I feel down, if I have a rough day, if I start feeling alone, whatever happens I know that I’m not alone. I know that I have someone I can talk to and that will be there for me even if I don’t see it that way. And if you are reading this and wondering if I’m talking about you – yes I am! You know who you are and I am forever thankful to have you in my life.
If you are reading this and feel like you have no one to talk to, I am here for you! – #relatable. I’m sharing pictures of me with my family but I have other friends that have supported me. They may not all know they are part of my support system but I feel very lucky to have them. Do you have your support system yet? Let me know your thought in the comments!
